Union Canal The challenge for Morrison Construction during this contract was to ensure minimal disruption to traffic flows on the busy M8. Babtie Group’s design solution saw the original line of the canal disregarded and a new loop cut to the west of the existing line. A new road bridge was built to carry the motorway over the canal. The work which was carried out in three phases to ensure continued traffic flow, started in March 1999 and was completed in May 2000.
