Forth and Clyde Canal British Waterways carried out the design work for this project to refurbish and recommission the existing swing bridge. Work on site started in August 2000 and involved refurbishing the bridge structure and the adjacent brick control building, reinstating the operating equipment and paint system and landscaping the area around the bridge site. The construction contract was awarded to Charles Spencer Ltd.
