May 27: Blackness Castle.
In military use from C15 till the end of World War I, this small boat shaped castle sits on a rock on the shores of the Firth of Forth.

The Impressive flight of locks on the Caledonian Ship Canal at Banavie near Fort William takes boats from near sea level up to the level of Loch Lochy as they head to Inverness.

Built in 1890, and carrying the east coast railway north of Edinburgh, this pinnacle of Victorian engineering dwarfs the maintenance "village" it rises over.

Kite Buggy at Gott Bay, Isle of Tiree (25m). On such a windy and sunny island,
with deserted beaches, this is a great place for all sorts of "wind" pursuits.

C13 & C14 Chapels' on Tiree (~35m). The oldest buildings on the island, the smaller chapel is nearly 700 years old.

This impressive house, surrounded on three sides by water, is thought to be built on an ancient "Dun",
a prehistoric artificial island dwelling, originally made of wood, turf and stones.

Built in the 1840s by Alan Stevenson to build & supply Skerryvore Lighthouse, on a reef, 12 miles out in the
North Atlantic. Complete with dry dock, and self flushing device.

The worlds first and only rotating boat lift at Falkirk, Scotland takes barges between the Forth & Clyde and Union canals ( info).

Sep 8: Sailing Tasara, Corinthians.
A late summer evening sail from Granton, Edinburgh, on the Firth of Forth. The 8.5m 'Cobra' makes good headway in Wardie Bay with minimal sail on the 10.5m mast.
